CONDITIONS FOR COMPLETION OF COURSE | |
A main condition for successful completion of the subject is active participation in the practices. A student can miss a maximum of three practices per semester, one of which can be missed without compensation, the others must be replaced. As a rule, the form of compensation is the preparation of a paper in the form of a literary review from the given missed area. The exam is written and awarded based on the assessment of acquired knowledge (in the range of A-E). | |
Learning outcomes | |
The study subject is a theoretical and practical preparation of bachelor's students for the proper care of juvenile patiens and also solves the issue of care for geriatric patients. The teaching concerns the issue of physiology and pathology of reproduction, students will learn to recognize physiological and pathological parturition, as well as the principles of its control. Furthermore, they will become familiar with the course of the physiological and pathological postpartum period and management and critical care of neonates as well as development and diseases of newborn infants. In the second part, we will deal with health care and special requirements for geriatric patients in order to achieve a longer life with a good quality of life. |

Brief outline of the course | |
Physiology of reproduction. Parturition- eutocia, dystocia. Birth control and assistance with complicated parturition. Puerperium - physiology and pathology. Neonatal period - examination and treatment of neonates after birth, resuscitation, Apgar score. Care of neonates. Management of orphans, substitute nutrition. Neonatal disorders. Approach to the geriatric patient. Most common diseases in geriatric patient. Preventive care in seniors. |
