The examination is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the knowledge acquired (in the A-E range).
Learning outcomes | |
The graduate of the course will gain knowledge about the individual components of the immune system and their interconnection and role in the development of immunity; about the defence mechanisms involved in bacterial, viral and parasitic infections; about the characteristics of the mechanisms involved in the development of pathological immune response (autoimmunity and hypersensitivity reactions); about the possibilities of non-specific and specific stimulation of the immune response. |
|
Brief outline of the course
Characteristics of the immune system (organs, tissues, cells and molecules). Characteristics of the mechanisms of the innate (non-specific) immune response (complement action, phagocytosis and cytotoxic reactions). Characteristics of the mechanisms of the acquired (specific) immune response (activation of T and B lymphocytes, characteristics and action of antibodies). Characteristics of inflammation. Characteristics of the immune response in bacterial, viral and parasitic infections. Characteristics of mechanisms of hypersensitivity reactions. Characteristics of mechanisms of autoimmune diseases. Characteristics of mechanisms of nonspecific and specific stimulation of the immune response (Immunoprophylaxis). |
