Disorders caused by incorrect nutrition and inadequate housing, principles of feeding and prevention of diseases. Practice: The safety to be followed during lessons, while perfoming clinical examinations. Clinical examination methods of small mammals, restraint, blood withdrawal, collection of biological material, interpretation of results. Patient presentation. Bílek, Vrabec 2. Lecture: The most common internal and infectious diseases in small mammals, diseases of skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. Practice: 3. Lecture: The most common diagnostic and surgical procedures and their application in small mammals (X-ray, USG, sterilization …). Practice: Anesthesia, malocclusion, tumors, reproduction control. Patient presentation. 4. Lecture: Taxonomy, biology, principles of breeding and nutrition of exotic birds. Disorders caused by incorrect nutrition. Behavioral disorders. Practice: Clinical examination methods of exotic birds, restraint, diagnostic techniques, blood withdrawal, collection of biological material, interpretation of results. 5. Lecture: Veterinary problems in breeding of exotic birds, categorization of diseases by organs, prevention a diagnostic of infectious diseases. Practice: Medicaments used in avian practice and their administration, therapy of intoxications and behavioral modification methods. 6. Lecture: Surgical methods in avian medicine, anesthesia and first aid, reproduction and reproduction disorders, diseases during nursing cubs. Practice: Imaging procedures in diagnostic of avian diseases, endoscopy, interpretation X-rays and ultrasonography in avian medicine – clinical case reports. 7. Lecture: The most common breeding species of reptiles, basics of breeding, anatomical and physiological specifics of reptiles in relation to morbidity. Practice: Manipulation and restraint with reptiles, collection of samples. 8. Lecture: Diseases caused by breeding failures, poor nutrition, poor breeding conditions, examination of animals with reproduction problems, drug administration in reptiles. Practice: Diagnostic dissection, parasitological and hematological examination of samples. 9. Lecture: The most common surgical intervention, dystocia (traumas, enterotomy and endoscopy). Practice: Clinical case reports of reptile´s diseases X-rays taking, USG and endoscopy. 10. Lecture: Diseases and traumas of free living birds. Practice: Veterinary approach to injured and weakened free living birds, supportive therapy, surgical techniques in cases of trauma. 11. Lecture: Categorization of ZOO animals and specific demands in relation to morbidity. Practice: Diseases of ungulates in ZOO gardens. 12. Lecture: Anesthesia and immobilization, principles of capture, transport and manipulation with ZOO animals. Practice: Diseases of carnivores in ZOO gardens. Final credits. 13. Lecture: Prevention of infectious diseases, vaccination and health control in ZOO. Practice: Tropical animal’s diseases, veterinary care in thermal insulation houses - terrariums. Final credits. |
