CONDITIONS FOR COMPLETION OF COURSE
In order to pass the course, the student must have active participation in lectures and practical teaching. The prerequisite for passing the examination is the preparation and defence of a seminar paper on the topic assigned by the supervisor (in the range A-E), which is the result of self-study. The examination is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the knowledge acquired (in the A-E range).
Learning outcomes
The student after completing the course, the student will acquire knowledge and knowledge about the importance, need and roles of nutrients in feed intended for livestock, about the classification and nutritional characteristics of the main groups of feeds, about the basic principles and procedures in the compilation of feed rations, about the basics and specifics of phase nutrition of individual species of livestock (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, horses).
Brief outline of the course
Definition and meaning of the subject; nutrients in animal nutrition - distribution, biological significance, basics of their digestion, absorption and excretion in livestock; feeds used in livestock nutrition - distribution, nutritional characteristics, limits of their use in the animal; compilation of feed rations using software for individual species of livestock in the application of the principles of phase nutrition; specifics of nutrition of breeding animals depending on the load and intensity of use of breeders and in breeding females depending on the individual phases of the reproductive cycle.
