CONDITIONS FOR COMPLETION OF COURSE
In order to pass the course, the student must have active participation in lectures and exercises. A prerequisite for passing the examination is the preparation and defense of a seminar paper on a topic assigned by the supervisor (in the range A-E), which is the result of self-study. The examination is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the knowledge acquired (in the A-E range).
Learning outcomes | |
After completing the course, the student will gain knowledge about cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune response in various infectious and tumor diseases, transplantations, in the origin and development of immune-mediated diseases as well as possible immune response disorders in these conditions. Detailed information on individual immunopathological diseases, their aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, therapy and prevention. Within the immunological examination of the patient, the content focuses mainly on modern diagnostic methods (e.g. flow cytometry, molecular methods, immunoscintigraphy, immunofluorescence), but also on classical haematological and serological examinations and the interpretation of the results obtained. It will also provide knowledge of synthetic drugs as well as natural substances that can modulate the immune response or be used in the therapy or prevention of immunological diseases. The graduate will also be able to assess the possibilities and suitability of using an animal model for studying the immune response to solve a specific scientific problem, obtain basic information on the legislative conditions for conducting experiments on animals, proper experimental design and the possibility of examining individual immune parameters. |
