Learning outcomes
Ability to get basic knowledge on epizootiology and infectious diseases acoording to OIE requirements, dealing with relations between infectious agents, susceptible hosts and enviroment,
gathers information about infectious diseases diagnostics
Brief outline of the course
• Basic epizootiology principles and definitions
• Laboratory methods used in epizootiology
• Infectious diseases (viruses, bacteria, fungi, prions)
• Clinical and laboratory diagnostics of selected infectious diseases
Course syllabus
Lectures:
1. Introduction to study objectives and methods of epizootiology and infectology. .
2. Infectious process, infectious disease, classification of infectious diseases
3. Epizootical process.
4. Sources of etiological agents and way of transmission
5. Relations between infectious diseases of animals and man surveillance of zoonoses.
6. Theory of natural focal character of infectious diseases.
7. Molecular epizootology
8. Analysis of epizootological situation.
9. Modeling and prognosing in epizootology
10. Immunological relations between mother and the young, the importance in control of infectious diseases.
11. Immunomodulation in infectious diseases
12. Mycobacterioses
13. Brucelloses, anthrax
Practicals:
1. Safety regulations manipulation with the infectious material. Material sampling, packing and dispatching for laboratory examinations at the diagnostics of infectious diseases and immunity state control.
2. Bacteriological and mycological methods in diagnostics of infectious diseases.
3. Serological methods in diagnostics of infectious diseases / agglutination methods, CFT, IDT/
4. Serological methods in diagnostics of infectious diseases / Elisa, HIT, VNT/
5. Technique of cell and tissue cultures. Their utilization for diagnostics of infectious diseases and production of biopreparations. Use of laboratory animals and chicken embryos.
6. Laboratory methods for identification of infectious agents.Fluorescent microscopy
7. Utilization of DNA hybridization probes and the PCR method in the diagnostics of infectious diseases and immunity state control.
8. Use of laboratory animals and chicken embryos. Their utilization for diagnostics of infectious diseases and production of biopreparations.
9. Determination of the immunological profile of animals, immunodeficiency and immunomodulation cellular, immunity.
10. Determination of the immunological profile of animals, immunodeficiency and immunomodulation humoral immunity.
