Compulsory study subject Diseases of horses / Reproduction of horses is providing knowledge and develop skills in the following areas: Reproduction of mares: the influence of photoperiod and managing the transient period of mares, management of estrus cycle and of ovulation in mares, management of breeding, irregularities of estrus cycle and ovulation in mares, diseases of tubular organs of reproductive apparatus, determination of pregnancy, abnormalities in pregnancy of mares, induction of abort, delivery in mares, assistance in regular delivery, management of irregular delivery, retention of fetal membrane, care about the mare and the foal after delivery, non/physiological lactation, puerperal diseases, course of infertility in mares, transfer of early embryos, surgery of reproductive organs. Reproduction of stallions: semen collection, preparation of insemination dose, management of insemination, infertility of stallions, reproduction organ diseases, surgery in reproduction.

1. Morphology of reproductive apparatus in mares
Comparative clinical anatomy of reproductive apparatus in situ
Clinical and laboratory diagnostics of estrus and ovulation
Vaginascopy; evaluation of dynamics of reproductive hormones
2. Clinical examination of non pregnant mare
Anamnesis in reproduction; preparation of examiner performing the rectal examination and preparation of mare, external examination of reproductive organs, relationship between season
and activity of ovaries and relaxation of cervix, dynamics of physiological changes of reproductive organs during estrus; differentiation of structures of ovary (follicle, corpus luteum);
diagnosis of estrus; preparation of medical record, evaluation of results and evidence with regard to the reproductive apparatus
3. Endoscopy utilization and use of ultrasonography in reproduction of mare
Endoscopy findings in tubular organs of reproductive apparatus in mares, use of endoscopy in therapy of tubular organs of reproductive apparatus; early diagnosis of pregnancy
ultrasonography, description of tissues in ultrasonogram in relation to stages of pregnancy, ultrasonography evaluation of fetus viability, twins diagnostics, course of embryonal and fetal
mortality by use of ultrasonography
4. Management of physiological delivery. Signs of impending delivery, mare preparation for delivery, examination before delivery, stages of delivery, assistance during regular delivery, treatment
of mother and foal after delivery, examination of mother after delivery
5. Management of irregular delivery (dystocia). Diagnoses of irregular delivery, abnormal positions, carrying the fetus, training with maquette, principles of management and end of dystocia,
principles of reposition of irregular positions, treatment of mother and foal following complicated delivery, prognosis quo ad vitam and quo ad functionem, resuscitation of foal, increasing
risks of after delivery complications
6. Fetotomy, fetotomy surgery, sectio caesarea
