Successful completion of the 5th year and the subject Internal diseases of small animals.
Learning outcomes
The result of education should be the student's independent approach to a patient with a certain clinical syndrome and the ability to establish a differential diagnosis, prepare a plan of necessary examinations and therapy with subsequent management of the patient.
Brief outline of the course
Clinical cases from practice are presented to the students, they are provided with information as presented by the animal owner and basic data on the patient's presens status. Subsequently, in the form of a discussion, students will participate in processing the list of differential diagnoses, determining the diagnostic plan, possible examinations with regard to the owner's possibilities, the therapeutic plan and the subsequent management of the patient.
Course syllabus
General principles of management of the patient, the rules of communication with the owner, diagnostic plan, decision for euthanasia. Chronic coughing. Anemia. Enlargement of abdomen.
Acute vomiting and chronic vomiting. Acute and chronic diarhoe. Pruritus. Alopecia. PU/PD. Euthyroid syndrome. Seisures. Vestibular syndrome. Uremic syndrome. Epilepsy.
