Regular preparation and active attendance at the practicals. Small vocabulary test from the Units II-IV and small vocabulary test from the Units V-VII. Final exam.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcome of the subject Basics of Latin terminology is to become familiar with the basic medical Latin terminology, which is essential for managing other medical disciplines. Student is able to breakdown the compound one-word term and on the basis of knowledge of grammar to understand its meaning in the context of multi-word term. The result is to gain the skills of correct using medical Latin terms.
Brief outline of the course
Basic grammar. Structure of multi-word Latin medical terms. 1st – 5th declension. Adjectives of the 1st & 2nd and 3rd declension. Comparison of adjectives. Numerals. Latin and Greek prefixes and suffixes. Compound words.

1. Basic grammatical terms. Pronunciation. Structure of multi-word terms. 1st declension.
2. 2nd declension. Adjectives of the 1st & 2nd declension.
3. 4th and 5th declension.
4. 3rd consonant – declension.
5. 3rd vowel – declension.
6. Adjectives of the 3rd declension.
7. 3rd declension - Greek nouns.
8. Comparison of adjectives.
9. Cardinal and ordinal numerals.
10.Latin and Greek prefixes.
11.Latin and Greek suffixes.
12. Compound words.
13. Revision.
