Learning outcomes
By completing the subject, the student will gain knowledge at the molecular level in relation to the topic of his dissertation in the field of veterinary morphology and physiology.
Brief outline of the course
Organ biochemistry (principles of molecular physiology)
1.Biochemistry of digestion and resorption of nutrients, function of digestive juices at molecular level
2.Buffer systems in living organism, role of blood, kidney and lung in maintenance of acid-base balance
3.Biochemistry of the liver as a buffering and storage organ
4.Biochemistry of the kidney, urine formation by ultrafiltration, reabsorption and secretion (principles of transport mechanisms)
5.Biochemical basis of contraction of skeletal, smooth and heart muscles, energetic metabolism in muscle
6.Biochemistry of the nerve system, neurotransmitters, principles of nerve signal transmission
7.Fundamental principles in regulation at organism level, cell-cell communication, signal transduction
8.Hormones of endocrine glands and molecular basis of their mechanism of action in taget cells
