The prerequisite for passing the examination is the preparation and defence of a seminar paper on the topic assigned by the supervisor (in the range A-E), which is the result of self-study. The examination is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the knowledge acquired (in the A-E range).
Learning outcomes
The graduate of the course will gain knowledge about assessment, communication and risk management in epidemiology, will be able to perform qualitative and quantitative estimation of the probability of adverse effects that may result from exposure of an organism to infectious agents.
Brief outline of the course
Characteristics and estimation of risk in epidemiology; Qualitative and quantitative methods of risk assessment; Estimation of risk, risk factors, their identification, assessment of exposure to individual factors; Study of relationships between epidemiological risk and environmental factors; Integration of epidemiological and epidemiological information; Analysis of risk assessment in human and animal populations; Communication and collaboration in risk assessment; Risk assessment management in epidemiology - organisation and selection of risk assessment procedures; Software and digital information databases for risk assessment and estimation in epidemiology; Use of risk assessment in infectious animal diseases, including zoonoses, practical examples; Application of risk assessment results to practice.
