CONDITIONS FOR COMPLETION OF COURSE
In order to pass the course, the student must have active participation in lectures and practical training. The prerequisite for passing the examination is the preparation and defence of a seminar paper on the topic assigned by the supervisor (in the range A-E), which is the result of self-study. The examination is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the knowledge acquired (in the A-E range).
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will acquire knowledge about the specifics of the immune response in individual animal species. The student will acquire detailed information about immunopathological diseases in animals, their etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, therapy and prevention. In the framework of immunological examination of animals, the content focuses mainly on modern diagnostic methods (e.g. flow cytometry, molecular methods, immunoscintigraphy, immunofluorescence), but also on classical haematological and serological examinations and the interpretation of the results obtained. It will also provide knowledge of the possibility of modulating the immune response in animals using synthetic drugs as well as natural substances. The graduate will also get acquainted with the possibilities of using animal models for the study of the immune response for the solution of a specific scientific problem, obtain basic information on the legislative conditions for the implementation of experiments on animals, the proper design of the experiment and the possibilities of examination of individual immune parameters.
Brief outline of the course
