Learning outcomes
The result of education in the subject Internal diseases of animals is the acquisition of current theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of diagnosis, therapy and prevention of internal diseases of animals with the aim of obtaining new knowledge in the given field from the point of view of experimental and practical conditions for ensuring the health, reproduction and production of animals.
Brief outline of the course
The entire doctoral study, including completion of the subject Internal diseases of animals, is divided into a theoretical and an experimental part. The theoretical part consists of studying accessible literature of the given subject. The practical - experimental part is aimed at developing new knowledge about internal diseases of animals, especially in the field of diagnostics, therapy and prevention of internal diseases
Course syllabus
Lectures (1 hour per week): organ diseases: 1. the most significant diseases of individual organs (skin, fur, mucous membranes, lymph nodes, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, digestive system including liver, reproductive system, locomotor system, nervous system, mammary gland) 2. disorders of substance metabolism (energy, protein, enzymatic, macro and micro-mineral, vitamin, hematological, rumen, urinary, milk, etc.) 3. the most significant peripartum diseases - 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after birth in high-yield animals (lipomobilization syndrome, liver steatosis, ketosis, subacute rumen acidosis, hypocalcemia, dislocation of the spleen, disruption of the immune system, disorders of the reproductive system, mastitis, laminitis, etc. ) Practical exercises (2 hours per week): Demonstration of patients with the above health disorders.

Content prerequisite:
The overall provision of the subject requires the provision of modern procedures and methods for the implementation of specific clinical and laboratory diagnostics for the application of effective therapy and prevention of internal diseases of animals.
Continuous assessment:
In the form of consultations, preparation of seminar work in the specified area, presentations of continuously acquired knowledge from the available literature and experimental activities of the doctoral student at domestic and foreign professional and scientific events, in the form of professional and scientific publications, defense of the dissertation project, including the exam in the given subject. Annual evaluation of the fulfillment of the objectives of the doctoral dissertation.
Conditions for completion of course:
Completion of veterinary medicine studies and successful completion of admission interviews
Final assessment:
Defense of the doctoral thesis.
