CONDITIONS FOR COMPLETION OF COURSE
In order to pass the course, the student must actively participate in the lectures. The condition for passing the exam is the preparation and defense of a seminar paper on a topic specified by the guarantor (in the range A-E), which is the result of self-study. The exam is awarded based on the evaluation of acquired knowledge (in the range A-E).
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will master the basics of radiobiology and radioecology. Within the subject, the student will become familiar not only with basic radiobiological concepts, with protection against the effects of ionizing radiation on the organism, with the correctness and appropriateness of choosing suitable diagnostic methods in the overall assessment of environmental and food contamination. They will be familiar with the current situation of contamination of the environment with radioactive substances (Slovakia and surrounding countries), foodstuffs, permitted limits. They will become familiar with the methods of reducing contamination. They will control the routes of entry, distribution and excretion from the body in animals. They will know important radionuclides in the biosphere.
Brief outline of the course
During the completion of the study subject, they will become familiar with basic radiobiological terms and the laws of modern physics. They will master the practical use of dosimetric devices and limits. They will become familiar with analytical methods for evaluating the impact of ionizing radiation and radioactive substances on the environment and the living organism. Correctness of assessment in emergency situations. They will be familiar with the situation in the world regarding contamination with radionuclides.
