Course syllabus
The program of seminars in Ecotoxicology in the academic year 2022/2023
1. Definition of ecotoxicology. History of the subject 2. Toxicants, toxicokinetics, bioconcentration, bioaccumulation, biodegradation 3. Diseases caused by environmental pollutants (Minamata, Nigata, Itai-itai, etc.) 4. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Dioxines. Acid rains. Pesticides. Endocrine disruptors 5. Evaluation of toxicity (acute, chronic, subchronic), reversible and irreversible effects. Exposure. Factors influencing toxicity, combined effects. Dose-response 6. OECD and EPA guidelines for toxicity testing of chemicals in birds and mammals. Credit test I. 7. OECD and EPA guidelines for toxicity testing of chemicals in aquatic organisms 8.
