Participate in the subject Andrology and Artificial Insemination is conditioned to complete the theoretical subjects so as Veterinary Genetics, Pharmacology, Pathological Physiology, Pathological Anatomy,and Clinical Propedeutics.
Výsledky vzdelávania
Result of the education and training in subject Andrology and Artificial Insemination is to reach knowledge to investigate the males of domestic animals from the health aspect for their further usage in biotechnological methods of reproduction.

Theoretical part – physiology and pathology of the reproductive functions in the male
Practical part – special andrological investigating methods, investigation of the ejaculate and evaluation of its quality
Sylabus predmetu
THE PROGRAMME OF THE LECTURES AND PRACTICAL LESSONS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
LECTURES: 2 hours weekly
1. Explanation of the definitions (andrology and artificial insemination - A.I.), short evolution of the A.I. in the individual species of domestic animals.
2. The endocrine control of the reproductive functions in the male.
3-4. Sexual maturity and sexual functions (differences among individual species of domestic animals). Sexual behaviour of the male. Classification of the neuroconsti- tutional types of the bulls.
5. Infertility in the male - Part I.
6. Infertility in the male - Part II.
7. Infertulity in the male - Part III.
8-9. Infertility in the male - Part IV.
10-11. Infertility in the male - Part V.
12-13. Breeding soundness examination in the bulls, stallions, rams, boars, dogs and tomcats
PRACTICE LESSONS: 2 hours weekly
1. The male reproductive organs - anatomy.
2. External examination of the male sex organs in the individual species of domestic animals.
3. Examination of the accesory sex organs (bull).
4. The methods of the artificial prolapse of the penis.
5. Collection and investigation of the preputial flushing.
6. Collection and preparing of the semen of the bull. Macroscopic investigation of the ejaculate.
7. Microscopic investigation of the ejaculate.
8. Sperm count (haemocytometrical, photocolorimetrical and spermiodensimetrical methods).
9. Differential staining of live and dead spermatozoa. Destination of the resistance of spermatozoa.
10. Cytochemical reaction for the destination of endogenic reductase.
11. Preparation of semen for morphological examination (preparation of the smear and staining methods).
12. Morphological analysis of the sperm cells.
13. Evaluation of the semen of the bull.
