Completion of professional consultations and seminars, preparation of a seminar essay (in written form, approx. 10 pages) related to the topic of the dissertation thesis. The course is completed with credit, which is awarded based on the evaluation of the seminar essay.

The compulsory optional course Pharmacotherapy of Internal Diseases is an additional course following the veterinary pharmacology, which the doctoral student completed during the undergraduate studies. During the postgraduate study, the postgradual student will acquire comprehensive knowledge of the pharmacotherapy of internal diseases of animals with a focus on interactions, adverse effects and risks in their application.

The content of the subject is focused on the most important pharmacological groups of drugs indicated in the therapy of diseases of individual organ systems.

SYLLABUS OF THE LECTURES FOR THE SUBJECT OF PHARMACOTHERAPY OF INTERNAL DISEASES FOR THE 3rd LEVEL OF EDUCATION

1. Pharmacotherapy of diseases of the cardiovascular system (cardiotonics, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, diuretics).

2. Symptomatic treatment of diseases of the respiratory system (antitussives, expectorants, bronchodilators).

3. Drugs affecting the function of the gastrointestinal tract (digestives, drugs affecting the rumen, antiulcer drugs, antacids, laxatives, antidiarrheal drugs, emetics, antiemetics, liver protectants, hepatotropic agents).

4. Pharmacotherapeutics of the endocrine system (thyroid hormones, drugs affecting the function of the pancreas).

5. Drugs affecting blood formation (antithrombotics, antianemics).

6. Management of diseases afecting kidney function and the reproductive system (diuretics, hormones affecing reproduction).

The postgradute students finish the course with an oral exam. The condition for the registrering for the exam is to obtain a credit based on the preparation of a seminar essay. Knowledge is evaluated in the form of a pass or failed.
