PODMIENKY NA ABSOLVOVANIE PREDMETU
In order to pass the course, the student must have active participation in lectures and practical training. The prerequisite for passing the examination is the preparation and defence of a seminar paper on a topic assigned by the supervisor (in the range A-E), which is the result of self-study. The examination is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the knowledge acquired (in the A-E range).
Výsledky vzdelávania
By completing the course the student will acquire knowledge and practical skills in the field of veterinary obstetrics, reproductive endocrinology and biotechnology in relation to the topic of his/her dissertation from the study programme of veterinary obstetrics and gynaecology.
Stručná osnova predmetu
Theoretical part - fertilization, embryo and fetus development, physiology and pathology of childbirth, endocrinology of pregnancy and childbirth, peripartum physiological pathological changes in the female organism, biotechnology of reproduction. Practical part - special examination methods for pregnancy, ultrasound, X-ray, management of childbirth, laboratory analysis of endocrinological, hematological and metabolic parameters at the time of fertilization, during pregnancy and in the peripartum period, evaluation of the results of examinations.

VIII. summer semester, 2h
1. Fertility management, embryogenesis and contraceptives.
2. Factors affecting fetal development, fetal anomalies, stress.
3. Management of pregnancy diagnostics.
4. Hormonal changes during pregnancy. Non-invasive methods of collection and analysis of steroid hormones.
5. Mechanism of childbirth. Induction of labor.
6. Management of childbirth.
7. Metabolism, obesity and reproductive functions.
8. Embryonic mortality and its prevention.
9. Abortion and its prevention.
10. Factors affecting the onset of postpartum ovarian activity.
12. Clinical endocrinology in veterinary obstetrics and reproduction.
13. Reproductive biotechnology.
Syllabus of practical exercises:
VIII. summer semester, 2h
1) Practical application of drugs in veterinary obstetrics.
2) Practical use of methods and procedures in the management of physiological childbirth.
3) Practical use of methods and procedures in the management of pathological childbirth.
4) Practical use of methods and procedures in the collection, processing and evaluation of samples of hormonal and metabolic parameters.
5) Clinical methods and procedures in the diagnosis of embryonic mortality.
6) Use of USGa rtg in the system of veterinary obstetrics.
7) Clinical methods and procedures in the diagnosis of abortions.
8) Nutritional strategy for solving reproductive disorders associated with obesity.
9) Photoperiod, stress, temperature, socialization
10) Consultation and advisory activities of a veterinarian in the field of veterinary obstetrics.
11) Analysis of the endocrine status of females.
12) Solving current obstetric and reproductive problems in livestock on the farm.
13) Interpretation of the results of hematological, metabolic, hormonal and breeding indicators in the animal reproduction system with a special focus on veterinary obstetrics.
