PODMIENKY NA ABSOLVOVANIE PREDMETU
In order to pass the course, the student must have active participation in lectures and practical training. The prerequisite for passing the examination is the preparation and defence of a seminar paper on the topic assigned by the supervisor (in the range A-E), which is the result of self-study. The examination is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the knowledge acquired (in the A-E range).
Výsledky vzdelávania
The course General and Special Bacteriology builds on the basic knowledge acquired during undergraduate studies. In the course of study students will gain detailed knowledge about general properties of bacteria, their systematics; their mutual interactions, microorganism-macroorganism interactions from the point of view of the ecosystem but especially from the point of view of pathogenicity of microorganisms, with regard to important pathogens in veterinary and human medicine. Special attention is paid to the causative agents of bacterial zoonoses. An important part is the comprehensive laboratory diagnosis of the causative agents of important bacterial infections of various animal species. For this purpose, molecular-biological methods and classical procedures based on antigenic and genetic determination will be used, both at the level of the individual and at the level of the animal and human population.
Stručná osnova predmetu
General bacteriology (morphological and functional properties of bacteria); Genetics of microorganisms (genetic code, plasmids, horizontal transfer of genetic information, recombination, mutations); An overview of the causative agents of bacterial diseases in various animal species with a view to important bacterial infections of animals and zoonoses; Characteristics of pathogenetic mechanisms of bacterial infections and diseases caused by Gram-positive bacteria; Characteristics of pathogenetic mechanisms of bacterial infections and diseases caused by Gram-negative bacteria; Mechanism of action of antibiotics; The latest methods for examination of samples focusing on the likely causative agent at the antigenic and genetic level.
