3. Final exam consist from three parts:

1. test with 30 questions from all presentation (lectures and exercises) - min. 51%

2. identification of breeds of animal - 20 random pictures of animal for identification - min. 51%

3. oral part of exam - random 1 question ( from list of questions) - oral answer - min. 51%

Result - average grade from all three parts

The student acquires knowledge about the importance of animal husbandry, their domestication, selection and breeding, as well as the use and focus of individual livestock breeds. Within the framework of general animal husbandry, he will gain insight and experience in fixing, handling, weighing and measuring of animals. They will familiarize themselves with the mandatory labelling of individual livestock species. He will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge and experience in exterior evaluation as well as active participation in the assessment at exhibitions. At the same time, he gets an overview of the use, utility types and breeding categories of each species of domestic animals. Within the framework of special zootechnics, he will get acquainted with the characteristics and use of individual breeds of domestic animals.

GENERAL ANIMAL HUSBANDRY

1. Lecture Importance of Animal Husbandry, Domestication of livestock,

domestication centers and origin of livestock - sheep, goats, horses pigs, fur animals, dogs, cats.

2. Lecture Phylogenesis and taxonomy of animals (strain, line, breeding,

family, individual, pure-bred animals, thoroughbred, breeding, herd population, sexual dimorphism). Morphological changes (changes in body size, frame, color), physiological (the reproduction and yield of animal) changes and changes in mental qualities of animals.

3. Lecture Constitution, habits, exterior and interior of farm animals (body

shapes, naming external body parts)

4. Lecture Production trends of various species of domestic animals, utility

types, control of growth and development

5. Lecture Selection and animal improvement. Breeding and reproduction

6. Lecture Poultry breeds and hybrids – laying, combined, meat breeds and

hybrids. Small and sporting breeds domestic fowl. Breeds and hybrids of domestic turkeys and guinea fowls. Breeds and hybrids of domestic geese and ducks

7. Lecture Modern trends in poultry production. Technique and technology of

breeding of different poultry species for fattening chickens, guinea fowls geese, ducks.

8. Lecture The origin of pigeons. Exterior domestic pigeons (body shapes,

naming the external parts of the body, coloring of pigeons). The characteristics of breeds of domestic pigeons and breeding methods. Most breeds exotic birds

Continuous assessment:

In order to successfully complete the subject, the student must participate in exercises and lectures in accordance with the study rules, two credit tests in the semester with an assessment of at least 51%. The correction of credit test can be repeated 2 times.
