PODMIENKY NA ABSOLVOVANIE PREDMETU
Participation in lectures and exercises with the possibility of replacing 2 exercises and excused non-participation for 1 absence. Credits will not be granted to a student who does not get more than 51 % of the points in the written examination in the 13th week of classes.
Výsledky vzdelávania
The syllabus of practical exercises and lectures focuses on clinical diagnosis, etiopathogenesis, differential diagnosis, therapy and prevention of infectious, non-infectious and parasitic diseases. As part of the exercises, students acquire practical skills in clinical and laboratory diagnostics, cytology, hematology, pathological autopsy, application of medications and preventive measures.
Stručná osnova predmetu
The subject outline includes an overview and zoological taxonomy of the most commonly used raptors in falconry, physiological aspects of captivity, training and basic clinical and diagnostic procedures in the handling, therapy and capture of wild animals.
Sylabus predmetu
Lecture
The safety to be followed during lessons, while perfoming clinical examinations.
1. Zoology of falconry. Species of hunting raptors and their specific use for hunting. Historical aspects and development of falconry in world and Slovakia.
Lesson:
1. Anatomy and physiology of raptors in relations to falconry utilization.
2. Basics of manipulation, fixations and identifications of raptors, preventative veterinary interventions in relations to husbandry and captive breeding.
3. Breeding facilities, falconry equipment, feeding and handling raptors in captivity.
Lecture
2. Training of falconry birds. Types of hunting style and use of fitness training in rehabilitation in wildlife casualities.
Lesson:
1. Stages of falconry training, differencies in various species.
2. Injuries and diseases in realtion to mishandling and mistraining.
3. Care and treatment of widlife casualities, methods of successful rehabilitation
Lecture:
3.Legislations and regulations concerning falconry. Falconry as element of UNESCO cultural heritage
Lesson:
1.Traumatic injuries of raptors in wild and veterinary principals of treatment
2. Prevention of diseases of falconry birds
3. Breeding of birds in captivity
Lecture:
4.Veterinary care of orphan and abandoned babies of mammalian species. Synentropization of animals
Lesson:
1. Veterinary prevention in juvenile mammals
2. Milk substitution and feeding orphaned babies
3. Back to wild release. Identification of released animals.

Podmienky na absolvovanie predmetu
Content prerequisite:
anatomy, physiology, pathological physiology, toxicology, pharmacology, nutrition, clinical diagnostics
Continuous assessment:
Conditions for granting credit: - during the semester (13 weeks) successfully complete a credit test (12th week of classes) with a minimum of 80% success - absence of a maximum of 3 exercises, one of the exercises is accepted without excuse - submission of two patient protocols: 2 types of exotic animals .
Conditions for completion of course:
