PODMIENKY NA ABSOLVOVANIE PREDMETU
The subject is performed in three clinics, therefore, in order to pass the subject, the student must have 100% participation in the exercises and achieve at least 51% in the control tests for credit. Awarding credit is a condition for admitting the student to the exam. The exam consists of a practical and a theoretical part. The conditions for successfully passing the exam are mastering the theoretical and practical part with at least an "E" rating in both parts of the exam.

The result is a comprehensive picture and knowledge about the management and care of patients coming to the clinic for treatment and examination.
Stručná osnova predmetu
The course curriculum includes basic theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in caring for patients arriving at the veterinary clinic.
Sylabus predmetu
1, Lecture: Introduction to the problematics, recognition of basic clinical symptoms in patients. Practice: Patient medical records, management of veterinary reception and first contact with patients and clients, clinical laboratory techniques. 2, Lecture: GIT diseases. Recognition of clinical symptoms of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, Acute vomiting, regurgitation, dysphagia, anorexia. Exercise: Basic principles of examination of the oral cavity, esophagus, stomach and intestines. Records and management of administration of therapy for GIT diseases. Examination of feces (parasitological, bacteriological) 3, Lecture: Diseases of the cardiorespiratory system. Recognition of clinical symptoms of heart and lung disease. Exercise: Basic principles of heart and lung examination. Records and management of therapy for diseases of the cardiorespiratory system, instrumental examination methods for examination of the heart and lungs. 4, Lecture: Diseases of the urinary system and kidneys. Recognizing clinical symptoms of urinary system disease. Exercise: Diseases of the urinary system and kidneys. Basic principles of examination of the urinary system and kidneys. Acute kidney injury, Evidence and management of therapy in diseases of the urinary system and kidneys. Instrumental examination methods for urine examination. 5, Lecture: Skin diseases. Bacterial, mycological and parasitic skin diseases. Practice: Basic skin examination, skin scraping, Management of pruritic patients. 6, Lecture: Diseases of the nervous and locomotor system. Recognition of clinical symptoms of the nervous and locomotor system. Exercise: Basic examination of the nervous and locomotor apparatus. Records and management of the administration of therapy for diseases of the nervous and locomotor system. Instrumental examination methods for examination of the nervous and locomotor apparatus. 7, Lecture: Preventive veterinary health programs for puppies, adults and aging patients and patients with special needs. Practice: Registration and issuance of vaccination card, passport. Records and registry of chipping, vaccination, deworming examination before the exhibition and traveling abroad 8, Lecture: Methods of handling and methods of fixing horses in field and hospital premises, clinical examination of the patient, taking samples for the needs of further diagnostics, rules of feeding, handling, training and specific diagnostic approaches in horses. Exercise: Practical performance, handling of horses with bad and good character, leading and methods of fixation for individual dg. examinations, sedation of the patient, special aids and supplies for horses for hospitalized patients. 9, Lecture: Diseases, their clinical diagnosis based on clinical symptoms in specific diseases of horses (digestive system, respiratory system). Exercise: Demonstrations of individual examination methods in horses, protocols for clinical examinations. 10, Lecture: Diseases of neurological nature, urogenital organs of mare and stallion. Exercise: Urine collection in mare and stallion, determination of basic parameters, estrus and its clinical manifestations, USG diagnosis of estrus, admission season, early diagnosis of pregnancy, twins, artificial insemination. 11, Lecture: Diseases of the orthopedic character in horses, basic clinical procedures for the initial diagnosis of lameness. Exercise: Practical implementation and methods of diagnosis of lameness, degrees of lameness, pressure tests, etc. 12, Lecture: Overview and zoological taxonomy of the most common types of companion animals - small mammals, reptiles and exotic birds as well as handicapped, abandoned and zoo animals, Exercises: Basic skills in fixation and manipulation with a focus on clinical diagnosis and etiopathogenesis of diseases in small mammals, reptiles and exotic birds. 13, Lecture: The most frequent acute cases in small mammals, reptiles and exotic birds. Exercises: Types and methods of administration of drugs, feed and supportive therapy in small mammals, reptiles and exotic birds.
