PODMIENKY NA ABSOLVOVANIE PREDMETU
The subject "Diseases of pigs II" is thematically devoted to the teaching of infectious and parasitic diseases, special surgery and orthopedics of pigs. In both parts of the subject, 100% participation in practical exercises is required as a condition for graduation. In case of absence, a replacement is required, the form, place and time of which will be determined by the relevant teacher conducting the teaching on the given day. It is also recommended to attend lectures that include the most up-to-date information from the given fields of study. An important condition for passing the course is the development of a protocol - a medical record from the examination of patients present at the clinic.
Výsledky vzdelávania
After completing the subject, the student acquires theoretical knowledge, practical habits and the basics of manual skills. In this way, the student will be provided with the prerequisites for his successful application in commercial practice or in the field of experimental research with an emphasis on:
- clinical skills in diagnosis, therapy and prevention of diseases,
- consulting activity
- theoretical knowledge about anesthesia, sedation and immobilization of pigs and free-living pigs, about surgical procedures, about methods of using special diagnostic and therapeutic devices in the diagnosis and surgical therapy of diseases in pigs,
- manual dexterity in the handling of diagnostic devices and in the surgical treatment of diseases in all categories of pigs.
Stručná osnova predmetu
The content, focus and goal of the study subject "Diseases of pigs II. it is both theoretical and practical teaching to acquire knowledge, practical habits and skills in the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of organ, metabolic and production diseases of pigs. This subject also educates students in the use of special diagnostic methods and surgical therapeutic procedures for organ diseases of piglets, gilts, sows and boars in breeding and experimental conditions.

• infectious and parasitic diseases in individual categories of pigs
1. Infectious skin diseases in pigs
2. Brucellosis and spirochetosis of pigs
3. colibacillosis, clostridiosis, coccidiosis (Isospora, Eimeria) cryptosporidiosis, balantidiosis
4. Pig salmonellosis, campylobacteriosis; gastric mematodes – Hyostrongylosis, Globocephalosis
5. Mycoplasmosis, actinobacillosis, atrophic rhinitis; Nematodes of the small intestine - Ascaridosis, Strongyloidosis
6. Mycobacteriosis, pasteurellosis; Colon worms – Esophagostomosis, Trichurosis, Macracanthor
7. Classical and African swine fever; Parasites of the circulatory system _ Schistostomosis, Trypanosomis, Babesiosis
8. Aujezsky's disease; Parasites of the urogenital system – Stefanurosis
9. Swine flu; parasites of the respiratory system – Metastrongylosis, Ascaridosis
10. Porcine circoviruses; tissue parasites – trichinosis, sarcocystosis, hydatidosis, echinococcus
11. Parvovirus of pigs, viral diseases of the reproductive system
12. Viral and parasitic diseases of the nervous system
13. Viral diseases of the gastrointestinal tract

1. anesthesia of pigs, anesthetic protocol, different combinations of anesthetics for pigs
2. parasitic diseases of pigs
3. the current epizootological situation. African swine fever
4. analysis of reproduction in sows and diagnosis of fertility disorders.
5. artificial insemination of sows and optimal time for admitting sows.
6. preventive and control measures in pig breeding facilities.
7 perinatal, postnatal mortality and diseases of piglets
8. occurrence of infectious diseases in pigs in practice

The order of lectures and exercises, as well as the content, may change according to the clinical material, patients and occurrence of diseases in the pig clinic. Due to the infectious situation associated with African swine fever, the exercises are only carried out in the pig clinic. Disposable protective clothing and washable rubber shoes are required.
